It’s September and usually things start getting back to “normal” for most people. Back to school, back to work, less sunlight and cooler weather.
Some of us revert to eating at our desks (not advised! : ) ), but want to keep up with the summer healthy eating and feeling good.
An easy way to accomplish this is by bringing your own food so you can control fat and salt content, avoid deep fried foods and have the freshest food available. Prepping food at home does not have to be overly time consuming and it is far less costly than getting food to go or eating out – never mind healthier.
The general rule is – the more colour the healthier. One of the easiest ways to do this is to prep veggies to go and always have them on hand to bring to work, munch on at your desk or a pre-dinner snack at home.
Straight up veggies can be somewhat lacking and you may want a little zing. An easy way to do this is to use any one of our rubs – Le Steak Rub, The Dry Rub and Chimichurri Rubs to create a dip. Add to sour cream and mayonnaise to taste. To get the best flavour, let sit for at least an hour in the fridge for the spices and herbs to really blend. A vegan alternative to sour cream is soy yogurt and a vegan mayonnaise. Enjoy!
